Exhibitionism And Awareness

An old woman came to me recently—she is from Rajasthan.

She said, ‘In the whole of India, there is no one more sorrowful than I am.’

Then she looked at me.
Hearing this, I was slightly startled.

She continued,
‘If you will not agree, then at least in all of Rajasthan, no one is more sorrowful than I am.’

Every human being thinks the same—that no one suffers more than they do.

And so, when someone appears willing to listen, we are eager to share, ready to speak.

To speak, to be heard, to see—
all of this is a subtle wastage of energy,
a leakage of vital force.

~ Translated from Nirvan Upanishad by Osho (Hindi Discourse), Discourse 1
